Teresa Carpenter




Teresa Carpenter is the author of four books, including the bestselling Missing Beauty. She is a former senior editor of the Village Voice, where her articles on crime and the law won a Pulitzer Prize. She lives in Greenwich Village with her husband, Newsweek columnist Steven Levy, and their son and is currently at work on a collection of New York diaries for the Modern Library.

Hometown: Independence, Missouri.

Degrees: Bachelor of Arts in English literature, Graceland University; Master of Arts in journalism, University of Missouri-Columbia. A Fairchild Fellow in business writing.

Work Background: Business reporter and rewrite editor for a Japanese trade magazine in Honolulu; senior editor/politics at New Jersey Monthly in Princeton.

Passionate pursuits: Foil fencing and Chinese cinema.

Pastime: Gardening
